CCTV cameras were covered before Noida protests, police say
Industrial areas of the city remain under close watch following the April 13 protest
Noida: After Haryana and UP, labour activists taken into custody for allegedly inciting violence during the industrial workers’ protest in the city on April 13 were planning similar agitations in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Assam and Tripura, officers associated with the investigation said on Wednesday.Officers said this was based on material recovered during searches of their homes and that Haryana -- Manesar saw a protest for a hike in minimum wages the week before the Noida stir -- was an “experiment”.Investigators also alleged some of the women who took part in the protest were seen draping CCTV cameras outside factories like Motherson with cloth, indicating they had received prior instructions. Police said they had CCTV footage showing the women covering the cameras. So far, key figures identified by police as responsible for the violence include Aditya Anand, Rupesh Roy, Manisha, Akriti, Srishti Gupta, Himanshu Thakur and Satyam Verma. Examination of mobile phones and laptops recovered from them is on and officers said they had also written to Google for some information.
